first full day of "work" today. the only thing that sucks about this job is that i have to be there at 6:30 AM!!! did you catch that?! those of you who know me....that's just not a pretty sight. it was painful last night when i had to set my alarm for 5:50 AM. wow. and i have to do that every day!!!

but however painful or crazy that time in the morning is, i had a great day with the kids! they are very well-behaved kids - very polite and considerate. they, for the most part, listen very well. (they are 2 and 5, afterall!) but it's just so great to be back doing what i love to do. and i love that this family is so open and so much like my family. that makes it so nice. i have felt so comfortable with them from the beginning. it's funny, because when i decided to try for this "nanny thing," i was afraid that i would get a family that was stuffy or strict or crazy somehow. but this is a great family that i could see myself getting very used to!!!

so my day today was great! anakin and i spent most of the day outside - it was 70 degrees out! (what's the deal with that?? it's freakin february! not that i'm complaining...). i went and got sidewalk chalk for them and drew about 10 train tracks for him...he loves trains. then after i picked jalynne up from school, we went to the park for 1 1/2 hours. it was so nice to be outside. fresh air...a bzillion kids...my kind of place!!!!

anyway, i promise that i won't only write about these guys from now on....i'm just still blown away by just how perfect this set up is! it's amazing to me....

but now i'm tired. absolutely exhausted!! sleepy time is just around the corner -- and it's only 8:30! but 5:50am comes quite early....so here's to good sleep tonight! :-)

I GOT A JOB!!!!!

So as of last night, I am working for a cute little family who lives 5 miles away from my house. They have a 5 year old girl, Jalynne, and a 2 year old boy, Anakin (yes, as in Skywalker!!). Jalynne is in kindergarten. I will be with them Monday through Friday, 6:30am to 5:00pm. They are a Christian family who hates corporate daycare -- just like me! While all of this is fabulous and seemingly makes this the perfect situation, the best is yet to come. What is that? you say. Well, they are okay for when I get pregnant!!! I can get pregnant and have my baby while still working for them!

Thank you God!!!!!!!! It's been a long road!!

so it's almost 3am and i can't sleep...again. i was up until 4am last night. my head won't stop spinning. i've been looking for a job for a while now. i had to quit school b/c we can't afford it. it really upset me that i had to quit. but the finances just wouldn't allow it like we thought they would. so, i've been looking for a job for almost 3 weeks now. i had an interview 2 weeks ago didn't get that job. and i've been online everyday - literally - sending my resume to places that i never thought i would. but nothing seems to be working. i have an idea of a really cool job that i'm planning on bringing up to a friend tomorrow, but even if that works, it will be a little while until i could "start." and the cool thing about this idea is that i could get pregnant and have my baby and still be working. that would be fabulous!

why is it so hard to find a job??? and why does it keep me up at night?!

in other news, i thought this was funny:

robert gave me the best valentine's day present ever today: he came home early from work!!!!!!!! while this may not seem like a big deal to you, it's a HUGE deal to me!! it made me feel so special!!! especially since he has to leave work early tomorrow for a doctor's appt we have. and usually he works late on wednesday's b/c he can just go to the corps for dinner and band/songsters. so i was so surprised and elated when he came walking in the door!!! and he also had these:

Tuesday, February 13, 2007

alright. so apparently reading people's blogs obligates you to do whatever they do!! so here we go. 10 (more) wierd things about me (in no particular order):

1. i hate when dishes are left out on the counter. it's fine if they are in the sink, but if they are left on the counter, i get pissed.

2. i LOVE to watch commercials and infomercials, much to my husbands dismay. and i think that whatever the infomercial is selling i HAVE to have and can't live without. again, much to my husbands dismay.

3. i have a new hobby of maintaining a 5-gallon fish tank. and i love it.

4. (i think it's worth repeating:) i count dashes on digital number. for example, the number 4 is made up of 4 dashes; the number 7 is made of of 3. then, i count the total number of dashes and see if they equal whatever time it is. (ex. 4:56 = 15. 4 has 4 dashes, 5 has 5, 6 has 6 -- therefore it also equals 15.)

5. i also count the dashes that make up the lines on the interstate...even while i'm driving.

6. everynight when i go to sleep, i have to make sure that i have a cleared off place to throw up on the floor in case i need to in the middle of the night. nevermind that i haven't thrown up since i was 4 and even then, i NEVER threw up in the middle of the night.

7. i love new office supplies. anything along those lines i will go for: pens, paper, mechanical pencils, notebooks, etc.

8. whenever we go out to eat, robert (or someone else, if he's not there) has to have a bite of everything on my plate. why? that way i won't get sick with food poisoning. or if i do, he'll get it too.

9. i am so afraid of feeling nauseous or throwing up that i never go anywhere without pepto bismol caplets. and if i feel the slightest twinge of anything in my stomach, i take 2 pepto bismols!

10. i have to see the mail before anyone else in my house. i don't ever do anything with it - i just have to look at it first. then robert can have it. (this, again, is much to my husband's dismay!)

alright. there's my next 10 things. lesley, i hope you're happy!!!!!

so - my husband is home! and with him he brought presents!!!!! dulce de leche (very important!); a very cool, extrememly soft and supple leather purse that ROCKS; and this:

...and this would be stephen burn...

Sunday, February 11, 2007

so i had a good day today! it's weird being 25...i don't feel like i'm 25. erin and i were talking about this the other day: when you're young, 23, 24, and 25 seems so old. but now that i'm there, it's strange. in some aspects, i'm right where i thought i'd be at this age. in others, i'm way not where i thought i'd be. but that's okay. i have a great life as it is!

but today was good! i was completely embarrassed in church - thanks, jonathan! then i went to brunch with mom and roni at my ALL TIME FACVORITE restaurant in atlanta: the "top of the tower" westin peachtree plaza. it was FANTABULOUS! and it was a gorgeous day - so the view was beautiful. then we went to the alliance theatre to see "sister act" which was phenomenal!!! LOVED IT! the only thing that would have made today perfect was if my husband was home. but he gets home tomorrow morning! WOO HOOO!!!! can't wait!!!!

well, off to bed i go. goodnight, blogosphere....

IT'S A BOY!!

so we went and had erin's 3d ultraound last night! i know this is a little ironic...seeing the subject of my last post. but she is my best friend - i am so happy for her! her kids are my kids and her pregnacies are my pregnacies. (as crazy as that may sound.)

the ultrasound was awesome! the room was set up with a HUGE flat screen tv that showed the whole thing. you could see everything! even his little "parts"!!!!!! IT'S A BOY!!! and we got a dvd of the whole session, plus pictures. it's exciting!!!!

WOO HOOO!!! july can't come quickly enough!

Tuesday, February 06, 2007

so today i have been married 500 days! wow.

i found out today that someone else i know is pregnant. that makes about 10 people that i know who are pregnant. while one part of me is happy for them, there's another part of me that is screaming inside! and i hesitate to write this on here because this is just the kind of thing that people can take and twist up. but oh well. we are going for our first infertility testing consultation next week. it's been a year since we have been trying to get pregnant. i did have a miscarriage in september, but something isn't right. i went shopping with erin today for her baby stuff and literally had to walk out of the store because i was getting too emotional. and i am so tired of hearing "once you stop trying, that's when it will happen!" shut up! i've heard every one of the little cliched sayings that people have. but until you have walked in my shoes of wanting a child so badly and trying for so long just to get pregnant then lose it then to keep NOT getting pregnant, i don't want to hear the sayings.

this is such a battle of faith for me. the logical side of me says that it will happen when it happens. when God is ready for us to have children. the emotional/heart side of me is screaming and crying at the fact that i have no children - or am not even pregnant - yet. it is so hard for me to trust that the Lord knows what He is doing. i just keep screaming in my heart "Lord, I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!" (Mark 9:25)

well, back to the daily grind...

so, robert is out of town again. ths time he's in argentina. (no, i'm not bitter.) so since he's gone, i went a got a new fish. a blue beta fish. i can't come up with a good name for him yet. so i need some help from the blogosphere. (and i do have a tracker for my blog so i know how many people come to my site and don't comment. ehem!)

so if you have a good idea for a name for my new fish, bring it on! i need it!!!!!

Tuesday, January 30, 2007

so lately i have been frequenting different ERs around the atlanta area. last night, gwinnett medical center was blessed to have me as one of their patients.

recently, i have learned how to slice my fingers opened with razors!!! and seeing as i haven't had a tetanus shot in the past 10 years, a trip to the ER was warranted! so, for your viewing pleasure, here are two pictures from my thumb-slicing experience last night:

The Rules:

Each player of this game starts with 6 weird things about you (themselves). People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state the rules clearly. In the end choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave them a message saying, "you've been tagged" and tell them to read your blog

alright --- here's proof of my OCD....

1. when i put dishes in the dishwasher, all the utensils MUST have their own square in the utensil basket. all forks go together, all knives, etc.

2. i LOVE to burn paper in my fireplace. any junk mail goes straight there!

3. i am obsessed with my fish tank. i am constantly buying new fish to go in it.

4. i don't use drawers for my clothes. everything (and i mean everything!) is hung up!

5. when i get in bed to go to sleep, my blankets/sheets HAVE to be perfectly straight. otherwise it drives me nuts and robert has to fix them.

6. (my favorite) i count the lines that make up digital numbers, add them up, and see if those numbers equal what the numbers of the time added up are. for example, 4:56 (am/pm) would be 4=5 (b/c there are 5 lines in it), 5=5 and 6=6. so the numbers are added up to 16. and that is equal both ways. but 10:09 wouldn't be equal b/c 1=2, 0=6 (times 2 for the two zeros) and 9=6. so the numbers equal 20 but the time only equals 10. and what's really sad about this one is that if there is a digital clock anywhere around when it's time to go to sleep, i keep myself awake doing this over and over and over again as each time changes by the minute.

i tag whoever wants to play.

(dirty) joke of the day:

3 nuns died in a car crash. when they got to heaven, st. peter said they had to answer a question each before getting in.

st peter said to the first one, "what was the name of the first woman?"

"eve," the nun said.

"right! go on in!" said st. peter.

the second nun came up and he said, "where did eve live?"

the second nun said "the garden of eden."

"right! go on in!" said st. peter.

the third nun, who was the mother superior, came up. st peter said "your question is going to be a little bit more tricky since you are mother superior. what did eve say when she saw adam for the first time?"

the mother superior thought a minute. "ooh. that's a hard one...." she said.

"right! go on in!!!"

Thursday, January 18, 2007

so here's a recap of my last 24 hours:

last night i was feeling like crap...again. i haven't been able to kick whatever this junk is that's hanging around me. but it has seemed to travel down into my chest - which isn't good. so last night i decided to go to the ER. i couldn't wait and go to the urgent care dr today because i had a test at school that i couldn't miss along with some other things. so ER is the next best thing. so i go. knowing full well that i'm going to be there for a while. while i'm registering my insurance and stuff, the guy who's checking me in decides that i'm a good patient to unload on. so for the next 30 minutes, i get his whole life story about how he's not happy in his marriage and hates his wife but loves his kids so he doesn't know what to do. i'm literally listening to him with my head on the desk b/c i feel so crappy - but this doesn't seem to bother him. while he's in the middle of his life's monologue, the dr calls me back. so 3 hours after i get there, the dr tells me that i have the flu (duh!) and she gives me tylenol with codeine in it because the coughing was absolutely KILLING my chest! she did x-rays as well just to make sure that i didn't have pneumonia. after the x-rays, the codeine starts to kick in. i am laughing hysterically at anything and everything. tears are just pouring down my face. good thing mom was back there with me!!

i get home (well, mom's house) after midnight. but i am wide awake. any drugs that are supposed to put you to sleep (benedryl, tylenol pm, etc) do the exact opposite to me. so not only am i wide awake, i am cracking up hysterically at everything.

i was told not to drive until this afternoon - which takes my 8 AM class out. so i go for my 12:30 class and take my test.

(now comes the interesting part.)

i had an interview at 7pm for a job at PriMerica Financial tonight. yes, a financial company. doesnt' that crack you up??? anyone who knows me knows that money and financial matters are not my strong point by any means. just ask my husband. so it totally cracked me up that they called me to come in for an interview. needless to say, i didnt' accept the job. it wouldn't be right! but it kinda made me feel good to be asked.....

Thursday, January 11, 2007

i am very reflective right now. i have a theory as to why i think this is:

~ there's this guy in the student center, where i am currently located, playing the piano quite well. he's making up whatever he's doing, and it's amazingly beautiful. it's very soft...quiet..."spa-like"...very nice. i think i could sit here the rest of the day and just listen to him play.

who would have thought that my much needed rest would happen in the student center at school?!

so what, then, are my thoughts? well, i'd pay someone if they could tell me exactly what's going on in my head! there's so much right now it's hard to decipher. which is usually the case! but right now, for whatever reason, my head is exploding with thoughts and feelings that i can't quite figure out. i know that part of it is the whole baby thing. and part is the whole school thing. part is the whole house thing. i think there's more, but that's enough for me as it is!!!!!

so, while i have another hour until my class starts, i'll sit here and try to figure the rest out. or maybe just keep listening to this guy play. either way, my head is free to go where it wants...
